About The Mindful Parenting & Community Project
The Mindful Parenting & Community Project (MPCP) was established in 2015 by a group of experienced mindfulness practitioners with a shared vision: to make mindfulness accessible to everyone.
We support individuals, parents, carers, children, educators and communities to strengthen their mental health and emotional wellbeing through practical, evidence-based mindfulness.
Our work is centred on creating safe, compassionate spaces where people can develop resilience, build stronger relationships, and learn lifelong skills to navigate life's challenges with greater calm and confidence.
Supporting Our Communities
We are passionate about making mindfulness available to those who need it most. Our work focuses particularly on communities across Bristol and the South West where people may experience isolation, disadvantage or increased vulnerability.
Working from community venues, schools and family settings, we deliver accessible programmes that help improve wellbeing, reduce stress and foster stronger, healthier communities.
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment with openness, curiosity and kindness.
Rather than becoming caught up in worries about the future or regrets about the past, mindfulness helps us notice what is happening right now—our thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and the world around us—without judgement.
With regular practice, mindfulness can help us respond to life's challenges with greater clarity, compassion and resilience.
What is Mindful Parenting?
Mindful parenting is not about being the perfect parent. It is an ongoing practice of bringing awareness, kindness and compassion to ourselves and our children, one moment at a time.
It encourages us to pause before reacting, to become more aware of our own thoughts and emotions, and to connect more deeply with our children's experiences.
As we develop this practice, we can begin to:
Understand and appreciate our child's unique personality, feelings and needs.
Be fully present and listen with genuine attention.
Accept each moment as it is, whether easy or challenging.
Recognise our own automatic reactions and choose responses that are calmer, wiser and more compassionate.
Create stronger, more connected relationships built on trust, empathy and understanding.
Mindful parenting is a journey rather than a destination. It offers practical tools to help families navigate everyday life with greater patience, confidence and connection.
